ACD
Active Compression-Decompression. Method to compress and decompress the chest during CPR, especially characterized by the decompression phase.
Anaesthesia
Local or general. Reversible elimination of (all) sensations.
CardioPump®
Device to perform ACD-CPR. CPR Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.
CPR Barrier
Device for EAR Resuscitation in emergency situations by mouth/to mouth or mouth/to nose to prevent direct contact and contamination.
EAR
Expired Air Resuscitation.
Emergency
A sudden, generally unexpected occurrence or set of circumstances demanding immediate action.
Emergency kits
Portable units, hard cases or soft packs, with various emergency resuscitation, intubation equipment and accessories.
Face mask
A covering for the mouth and nose used in administering an anesthetic agent or oxygen.
Immobilization
To keep in place / to prevent the movement of the head, the body, a limb or a joint.
Oxygen regulator
Regulates oxygen from a high-pressure oxygen cylinder either to administer oxygen-enriched air via a resuscitator and/or to operate oxygen-powered equipment, e.g. automatic resuscitators or suction pumps.
PEEP
Positive End-Expiratory Pressure. Positive pressure state in an airway persisting at the end of an expiratory phase.

Resuscitator, manual
Portable device, hand-operated, used in emergency situations to provide lung ventilation.

Device in which the cyclic flow of gas for inflation of the lungs is independent of any inspiratory effort of the patient or repetitive action of the operator.
Suction
Application of vacuum to remove fluid or solid particles.
Suction pump
Medical suction device (manually or electrically operated or powered by oxygen or compressed air) to establish and maintain the patency of the airway. |
