Returning to Ambu

This section features employees who have returned to Ambu after having worked elsewhere.

Johnny Rossing, Corporate Controller

Johnny Rossing is ready to list the arguments from the application he wrote when he wanted to return to Ambu: "There are three reasons in particular why I chose to come back: Ambu is very professional. We are international. And the company is not too big and there is a pleasant atmosphere."

After having been with Ambu for almost eight years, Johnny left the company in 2005. “I was tempted by an offer I could not resist, and I convinced myself that it would be nice to try something new. I was not tired of working at Ambu, but when you have been employed with the same company for some time, there is a chance that you stop noticing the small improvements. Consequently, you can feel that nothing ever moves forwards".

"I can now take a fresh look at Ambu and see that the development that I was a part of continued during the period I was away. If, for example, I compare the IT and communication tools available here with those I have encountered at other companies, there is no doubt that Ambu is well ahead of the game. In terms of HR, a great deal has also changed since I left Ambu.”

His first job after Ambu was not a success, so Johnny moved on after only three months. “It was no good. But then I got a good job with Tele2. Ambu is, of course, not the only good workplace. Tele2 was, however, sold to a Norwegian company and my job function changed because the Norwegian head office had its own economists.” Johnny then turned his attention to Ambu again. “By mere coincidence, I spoke to Steen Rosenkvist (VP Financial & Business Analysis) when he was in the middle of the employment process.”
“We quickly agreed that it would be interesting to see whether I could return. I went through the selection and employment process like the other applicants and fortunately I was found to be the best qualified applicant.”

Charlotte Fuglsang, Production Employee

“It is always useful to see other workplaces, as it makes you appreciate what you have,” says Charlotte Fuglsang. Charlotte started working at Ambu back in 1994, but left the company in 2003. “I was actually dismissed, so maybe it is a bit strange that I have decided to return to Ambu. A lot of people do not understand why I have chosen to do so. But after having been away for a while, I realised that my heart is with Ambu.”

Charlotte had two other jobs during her four-year spell away from Ambu, most recently three years with MediCult. “I was actually quite happy at MediCult, but the job was a bit unchallenging and the workplace a bit small, so when the opportunity arose to return to Ambu, I was clearly tempted. I have thought a lot about whether my return to Ambu really is the right decision.”

“Coming back was brilliant. On the first day I was greeted and welcomed by everyone. After four days, I felt I had never even been away, and my induction took no time at all.”

Leah Vaughan, Marketing Manager

Leah Vaughan originally joined Ambu Ltd. in 2002 having just completed a degree in Business at university. “I joined Ambu as a Marketing Assistant and as I developed so did the job. I loved working for Ambu, the people were fantastic, the work was fulfilling and I thoroughly enjoyed marketing to the medical field. The reason I left Ambu was to “further my career” and I needed to find out if the grass really was greener on the other side.”

Leah left Ambu in April 2007 and moved to Gambro – who manufacture and market dialysis machines and consumables – as Product Manager. “It was a brilliant job and I learnt an awful lot, particularly in the areas of Product and Business Management. But even though I was really enjoying my time at Gambro I was missing the people I worked with at Ambu and the buzz I got from working with them.”

“One day David Edwards – Sales & Marketing Manager, Ambu Ltd. – rang me to say that they were going to have to actively recruit to fill the position I had left but before they did they wanted to see if I would come back. I realised then, that in my heart I had never really left and that the right thing to do, and what would make me happiest, would be to go back. Ambu is a very special company, there is so much talent, passion and dedication but I think I needed to leave in order to truly appreciate this. I am just so thankful that I was able to come back. I can confirm that the grass is not greener on the other side.”
