What makes your job exciting and stimulating?

“Working in an international environment and building a bridge between the development department in Denmark and the production in China brings many stimulating challenges every day. Actually, the bridge building begins when we meet with our customers who are doctors and nurses, and this has, among other things, allowed me to attend operations at the hospital. It’s exciting and has given me an insight into a completely different world where all my experiences enable me to make the right decisions during the product development phase.

At the same time, it brings great job satisfaction to be a part of complete and continuous development projects as well as to be able to use a wide range of previously acquired skills in a new way and in a new context. It is possible to be both a leader and a specialist at the same time. To have helped complete two development projects and be working on a third one in less than two years. It may not sound like a lot, but in a medico-technical context I think it’s impressive.”

What is good about the department?

“That both the first and the last part of the department’s name is taken seriously! We work in the field between product development and production where people expect us to take responsibility in all disciplines and functions. That it’s not a PTA department responsible for daily operations!”

What is good about Ambu?

“Ambu is big without being too big and small without being too small. It gives a healthy balance between dynamics and bureaucracy, susceptibility to influence and streamlining, a structured routine and an innovative environment. And it’s fun to be part of a success!”

What makes your job exciting and stimulating?

“There are several reasons why I find my job exciting. One of the main elements in the work environment here in Ambu is what we call freedom under responsibility. This means that we are trusted to do our job and at the same time given a high level of freedom to perform our tasks. That is an important part of working in Ambu and I think it is something that everyone appreciates.

I also find my job exciting as I have the responsibility for the manufacturing processes and therefore it is my responsibility to ensure that everything is working correctly. As a coordinator I am also responsible for developing and maintaining the teamwork that represents our production team. This gives me an opportunity to get to know everyone on my team really well.

As I have chosen to work on the weekend day shift, my situation is a bit different from the normal day shift. As the rest of the organization is not present in the factory it adds an extra challenge, as I am required to answer and solve any problems that may arise. However it is a challenge that I like and working during the weekend gives me the freedom to plan the rest of my week as I wish, which is something that I value a lot.”

What is good about Ambu?

“The good thing about working in Ambu is the good atmosphere and friendly colleagues that meet you each time you come to work. As our production team are usually the only ones present at the factory during the weekend it is important that everyone gets along and enjoys coming to work. During the years we have developed a high level of team spirit and everyone is always happy to help each other out. That is what makes it worthwhile coming to work every weekend.”

Paola Sima

Paola, R&D Project Manager

Name: Paola Sima

Education: M.Sc. Electrical Engineering

Position: R&D Project Manager

Department: Research & Development

What makes your job exciting and stimulating?

“There were many reasons why I chose Ambu. My work at Ambu makes sense to me; the result of our work is used by physicians to help people increase their quality of life.

A project team is overall responsible for developing, manufacturing and launching products to the market.

As a project manager, the thing I value the most is the great network of people across the whole organisation you have contact with. The project members are specialists in their own fields, contributing know-how during all project stages to complete the project on time. From the idea for a product until you hold the product in your hands, experiences and knowledge are shared within the project team. I feel that I learn a bit about everything and if I want expertise, the rest of the team can provide it.

The Neurology team, which I’m part of, is a dynamic group of people of different ages and backgrounds, who make up a good combination both professionally and outside job hours. It is very simple; we have fun together when we work.”

What is good about Ambu?

“As an employee at Ambu, you have lots of opportunities to do what you want. If you are ambitious and want more responsibility or more challenging assignments, you will get it!!!

Ambu also has two production sites in Asia, which we have close contact with. Since I have lived in Asia (Singapore) one year as a student, the Asian continent is close to my heart.”

Rikke Grønborg

Rikke, Corporate Product Manager

Name: Rikke Grønborg

Education: Export Engineer
M.Sc. International Technology Management

Position: Corporate Product Manager

Department: Commercial Development

What makes your job exciting and stimulating?

“A job as a Commercial Portfolio Manager at Ambu’s Respiratory Care department is synonymous with very varied job tasks. In my daily job, I appreciate an environment where you can achieve lots of good results together by talking about and discussing professional issues with your colleagues. Ambu allows me to do just that.

My job means that I am responsible for ensuring that the products we develop meet the requirements our customers have. During a project, I typically get involved right from the start acting as the representative of the market. I am there throughout the entire process, and I don’t let the product go until it has been thoroughly launched in markets around the world. The product launches and other interesting commercial job tasks mean that I regularly talk to and visit our sales companies in Europe and the USA. To me, this contact is very valuable as it allows me to develop personally and improve my language skills. The friendly contact with colleagues internally and externally helps build good relations and establish a network that is extremely valuable.”

What is good about Ambu?

“In my opinion, Ambu is a loyal and dynamic company whose main quality is that you can get all the challenges you want as long as you have the necessary skills and not least the enthusiasm. Ambu wants to know if you are satisfied with your job, and Ambu also makes an active effort if you want to improve your skills or your career, both on a professional and personal level. Friendliness is also one of things that characterises the corporate culture at Ambu, just as helpfulness and openness in all parts of the organisation are some of the important things that make me look forward to coming to work every day.

Ambu is a work place filled with friendly and professionally competent colleagues. When the work is done, there are plenty of opportunities for socialising with your colleagues, both in the staff association and at individual get-togethers. There is a pleasant tone among the people at Ambu - horizontally as well as vertically in the organisation.”

Steen Geertsen

Steen, Senior R&D Product Engineer

Name: Steen Geertsen

Education: Manufacturing Engineer/Project Manager

Position: Senior R&D Product Engineer

Department: Research & Development, Cardiology

What makes your job exciting and stimulating?

“I have a rather unusual background as I have lived in several different countries where I worked in a variety of industries and job positions. Ambu makes it possible for me to use this background in a job that is very interesting and exiting. This is important to me and this is part of what makes me feel good about going to work every day.

I am responsible for R&D support for current products. This is a position that was created so that other R&D team members can concentrate on design and development of new products. This means that I get involved in a lot of different things and that variety and versatility is a large part of my job - all factors that I value.”

What is good about Ambu?

“Ambu is an international company. This enables me to work with many internal departments and with a large network consisting of customers, vendors and Ambu facilities in many countries all over the world. I enjoy being involved with a large network of people that all have different backgrounds and agendas. A given project or assignment that I work on can for example involve interfacing with several internal departments, an Ambu factory in the Far East and a domestic or overseas supplier production facility.

Equally important to me is the fact that Ambu is a company with clearly defined values. This creates the framework in which it is possible for me to tailor and influence the content of my job to include areas that interest me.

It just feels good and interesting to go to work everyday - and that is important to me.”
